Women in Hip Hop Dance History

Women in Hip Hop dance is a history yet to be told. How many women exist in the history of hip hop dance? What are their contributions? Most importantly, what can we learn from those women who  came before us??? I will be creating a time line based on the women in hip hop dance that I have heard of and women that I was able to contact. It will always be a work in progress, highlighting the multiple experiences of women as a group in hip hop dance’s history from the 1970s-1990s. Women who do not appear can only be highlighted through your suggestions as I can not and do not know everyone. It is our job to document this history because no one else will. Also, multiple efforts will be made to contact other women but if they do not respond or give information enough to highlight, there is not much that I can do. Eventually, I hope to join this history with the preexisting history for a more complete history of hip hop dance and of hip hop as a whole.
